Nice. But I'm really interested in the adapters you build. For which gearbox were they?

I hear it's hard to mate the Lexus engine to the v5a51 box (common on automatic GDIs)

I would love if someone has done it

Hi
Do you know how to wire it to make it run behind the Lexus engine.
I actually made one but gave up as I could not get the wiring diagram or someone that was able to make the engine run

Re: 1997 PAJERO BLISTER FENDER 1UZ LEXUS V8 SWAP
Good day.

Not meaning to put a spanner in the works at all and not meaning to offend anybody.

Do not do a Lexus conversion in a Pajero.

People think it makes it the perfect vehicle.

In fact it devalues the Pajero down to a vehicle that when you want to sell it there are no buyers.

Reasons are.

It is a vehicle that is not easy to repair as who knows what parts are used and the VIN number becomes useless.

Each conversion is different so there is no set formula to work off.

The banks will not finance such a vehicle which narrows down the selling market to a very small market indeed.

I to be very honest it is a conversion that takes a perfect vehicle and destroys a pedigree into a bastard vehicle.

Yes it sounds very nice, but that is about all.

I have been offered several of these vehicle, but will never buy one as there is no market as regards resale value.

I know many people will disagree but it is just a bit of information for those who are thinking about such a conversion.

You will never get back any where near the money you outlay on the conversion either.

There are some of these vehicle that have been on selling sites of over a year, with no luck.

The other thing is each time you take the vehicle to another person to sort out the last guys mess, the story is always the same. " Ag no this is a mess, who did this conversion, it is all wrong", and there comes another bill to you, equal to the loss suffered by ESKOM.

Pajero make a perfect product. Repair or replace the motor with a Pajero motor, don't go the conversion route.

Just some free advise .

Hi Renegade,

I get your point. But here in Mozambique its best to swap.

The 3.5 GDI is hell (poor fuel quality. 93 ron on a engine designed to run 95 and preferably 98 Ron).

Every 6 months/1year you have to replace one of the 2 fuel pumps.

Normally the one in the V. Its a heads off job.

The non GDI 3.5 V6 are scarce as hens teeth.

The 3l (6g72) doesn't play ball with the tiptronic transmission of the gen 2.5 onwards.

You throw a stone and you hit 5 parked 3,5 GDIS (gen 2,5 and 3)

So the idea to buy one cheap and replace the problematic engine with a V8.

You hit the nail right on the head also a problem with the 3.5 GRI is the intake manifold build up of the egr waste materials.
And the breaking crankshaft problem.
Spare parts.
And a more powerful and better sounding V8 is an absolute improvement.

I personally like the 5 speed automatic tiptronic Transmission very strong.

But only little information available about how to wire it up on other engines.
