The heads are going to be re-worked 100% - I'm not skimping there
New valve stem seals
New lifters
If the valves and seats look just a little worn I 'm going to have them done as well.

Reason: Cleaned as promised
Updates
I fixed the dash lights and made a DIY about it here

I have also had word that the engine is stripped and almost clean.
I will go and have a look tomorrow afternoon and take my camera with.

It is not as bad I initially feared but it is clear that the previous owner did no maintenance for over 50k.
The bores are slightly scored but if you look carefully you can still see the original honing marks after 250k :kewl:
The crank is slightly scored - due to lack of decent oil and VERY old oil - the workshop reckons it is 60k overdue for a change :8
Good news is that a bore ( with new pistons ) won't be necessary - just a good re-hone
I'll let the pictures speak further

Just make sure they correct the quote. I see it refers to a Colt V6. I know that they have the same engine, but there might be small differences.

I have ordered some parts from the dealer as the machinist says I can have the motor month-end.
All new coolant hoses except the connections that go to the back heater matrix ( never gets below 10 celsius here )
Two new tensioner pulleys ( expensive and the quote says they are power steering pump pulleys ??? - I sent a pic to the dealer to make sure they are correct)
Two new engine mountings
TO bearing

Small progress.
Engine will be back in two weeks.
In the meantime I've chased all the wires from the speakers as only the rear right was working.
All 4 speakers are working now and the wiring ball sorted behind the radio.

Was planning on doing it later but .... 'van afstel kom uitstel'4ePajero wrote:Did you open it to check the

Opened up and it looks good. No excessive wear after 257'000km
* I think mitsubishi engineers should get noble prizes for their simple robust designs
* I have yet to encounter a part on the pajero that is not easy to understand, take apart and/or service ( compared to the jetta where most things are a pain )
After opening and wiping

Points where I applied some copper grease before reassembly

Brushes close up

I also had a supervisor making sure I do work.....
