Thanks guys for all your explanations. There appears to be a number of grey areas between the GLX and the GLS and between the Gen 3 and Gen 4 and it could be that some of the anomalies that I have seen on all of adverts on-line are actually customised changes made by owners and not of factory origin.
Now the next challenge is to find a good second hand vehicle at the right price!
Regards - Roger.

Hi Wildcoast
I think that most of the differences are either too expensive to include later or too difficult,
The only things one could introduce after purchase are Radio/Infotainment systems and the spare wheel full cover, possibly also a REAR Difflock . Anything else (apart from after fitment items) , seems nearly impossible economically and technically impossible or at least totally undesirable.

I am trying to make sense of the Pajero Parts site from MEGAZIP. I wanted to establish my particular model in that part list and am nearly there.
While sifting through the various model dereivatives (the list is international and includes ALLPajero models/Types built -incl the Japanese models and LHD and RHD (Europe)), I came across 2 code numbers (Model numbers) in this list, i.e. LYXZA6, built between2006 and 2008 and LNXZR6 built between 2006 and 2009.
Both are for European market, GLS, execution, LWB and 4 Zyl (Diesel) as well as RHD
The problem I have is that these two "derivatives" use different automatic gear boxes, i.e 5FM/T for LNXZR6 and S5FA/T for LYXZA6. Unfortunately the parts lists do not have any information about these gearboxes nor can one reach any conclusions, Note : both also use different Turbos. It cannot be thenew dieselengine with 140kw because this came only in 2010.
Can anyone shed some light onto what the differences in the 2 gear boxes are ?

Thanks Obelix123. From what has been posted by others in the past, I seem to recall reading somewhere that to add multi-function steering wheel controls was a fairly simple matter of just plugging the controls into ready factory prepared sockets on the steering wheel (on some models) - or am I simplifying matters?
Of course one would have to buy the mf controls in the first place and I can imagine that being Mitsubishi, they would be somewhat over the top expensive!

Hi Wildcoast
You might be right as well but all what I meant is that some large and complex additions would be nigh impossible, like Sunroof (who would fit a sunroof in a Pajero which does not have ?) ) ...Who would fit electrical seats in a Pajero which does not have ??? .
If you look at the GLS and GLX packages you could see the craziness in buying GLX and afterfit GLS items.
I am not really familiar with the different packages for GLS and GLX (they will differ as well for the Japanese or other Asian markets and definitively for the European and American Market).
It is also quite possible that there are GLXs and GLSs from different world markets in South Africa and you might therefore find 2 differently appointed GLX or GLS.
