Hi Skillie,
In general the Diesel handled fine. Perhaps not quite as effortlessly as the Petrols

, but excellently nonetheless. I think there are several factors that may have contributed to this (thanks Anton and Ned for pointing some of these out ... ):
1. More torque but less KW (ran our of rev's on Dogs Leg. That said I really would like to try it again with my new found experience .... )
2. More cautious (had to simply push harder to get up the slipface in the pic beneath)
3. Learning how top use the Paji in the dunes (when to use diff, how to use the auto gearbox to hold gears etc)
4. No mods (GLX, standard except for Bridgestone 265x70x16 AT's)
5. Somehow always managed to be close to the back of the pack and got to drive in the churned up sand (and boy can those Petrols churn up the sand ...)
6. Lack of driver skill
7. Lack of driver determination (
or bigger gonads perhaps.... )
But, got most places, with no damages, and, had just as much fun as the Petrols did ....
Looking forward to next time, hopefully there will be more Diesels this time round!
BTW - I was also the only Gen3 LWB there .... come on guys .....
Cheers, Ralf.
