I am old enough to think only of Mitsu or Lubro.
Surely there are many more good suppliers of CV joints - as long as it is a reputed brand.

What about reconditioning the current CVs? I can't find to much info on the topic. Is that an option on the pajero's CV?
No luck with finding an agent for lobros close by and I'm also not prepared to pay R7k for the OEM....just don't have the cash....or credit at the moment.
Only brand that got mentioned to me so far is Lobro, Solid and GSP....and OEM....at a price, very steep price.

Just be 100% sure it is CV. You have bigger tyres and different off set tyres on. Is it not just something like a mudflap catching an aggressive tyre when you reverse. I had that once so worth it to have a look.
I had CV work done in Centurion with Craig at Hennops CV and he had good price and good advice. +27 12 653 8912 . So if it is CV might be worth giving him a call as well.

Ek het niks wat vang as ek skerp draai nie, maar ek sal weer loer. Het gister weer met die pajero gery, en porbeer om skerp te draai waar ek kon om uit te vind of dit voorentoe ook gebeur, maar kon dit nie bevestig nie.
Sover lyk dit of dit net in reverse gebeur. Sal die naweek gou n stukkie grond gaan soek en in die ronde ry en kyk onder watse omstandighede die clak geluid gebeur.

They install the GSP brand. Not priced to bad...still can't find any conclusion between GSP and solid.
I'm going to try and find someone that can recondition the original CVs, but first see if I can get someone that can confirm that it is the CVs and not something else.

Cats and/or 4e,
One question: Can one realy recondition CV joints? My impression is that the actual rolling surfaces are case hardened and when they machine the marks "out", they must go through the case hardening. The reconditioned CVs might be OK for a few kilos, but then they will start to wear at quite an fast rate. Your comments please.

Why not ask them that question and other questions too?
For instance what is the cost difference remanufactured vs. new?
And what is the warranty on each method?

I'm planning to go and see Jurgen @ Mega Cage next week. I'll ask him about options and cost, and differences between recon and new. He should also be able to tell me what is the better brand if I decided to replace.
Another question, isn't CVs suppose to go cluck in either forward or reverse? It doesn't seem to go cluck when in "D" only when reversing. I'll have them take a look at it.
I guess that is the only real way to get this sorted, let an expert have a look at it.

I dont know if a CV can be properly re-manufactured. I suppose it depends on what needs to be replaced after the damage.
I would also ask the question as to why the CV got to the clack- clack state. My understanding is that a CV which is properly greased and protected should probably outlast the engine of the vehicle. Thus I would ask what lead to the CV's demise. I always check my CV boots when servicing and believe that if they are kept in good nick to keep the grease in and grime out it should last a very long time. I have had rear CV problems on my 300 000km Pajero but believe this was caused by the extreme lift that I had running for a while.
