I found that they have more ads from privateers than Auto Trader (which is widely used by the trade).

Lock wrote:Hi Zeek Glad to hear you have seen the light! I’m on my third Pajero and still in awe of the 4x4 ability and build quality. My current one is on 330 000 kms and only one mayor problem in all that time. I recommend that you watch Autotrader on the net. The best buys seem to be private sales as the dealers offer next to nothing on trade-in’s, and then go over the top when selling them. More money for them…. If you’re lucky, you will find one selling for just above the trade- in the dealer offered. Might have to be patient though.
Ha ha the light most definitely. Bakkie is currently in to repair some scratches. Goign to Pretoria this Saturday to look at a couple of Pajeros. Seems to be a lot for sale in PTA.
How are the banks on financing Private vehicles? I suppose will have to sell mine as well privately.
Thanks

Hope you get sorted.
And you don't need to go to Pta for service - MITSPRO is around the corner from you...

There is one for sale near me in Pretoria for R170. Really good condition and less kilo's.
Hello,
We went to Pretoria on Saturday to have a look at this one. Test drove it today but was told that someone filled the papers the previous day and put down a big deposit. But still go to drive a Pajero for the first time.
Nice drive solid was great.
We went to the next one we were really keen on.
2002 3.2 Gls 150000km for R159900 which seems liek a good price for the low kilometers. In much better condition than the 2005 Glx 170000 for R169900.
Anyway some pics. Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks

Manual or Auto?
Tyres condition?
Price seem fair for the kilos if it is auto. If manual I would try and get a few bob down still. The manual should sell about R8-10K less than a comparable auto. Doesnt seem to have any extras that you are scoring, but that can also indicate that it was just a moms taxi all its life, which is not such a bad thing.

Try calling mitsu dealers, give them the VIN / registration number and tell them you are looking to buy the card. Ask them for the claims on the maintenance plan. (some dealerships will actually give you all the invoices, but I dont think they are supposed to cuz it still has the previous owners details on it).
You can then see if any major things went wrong while it was serviced. I noticed some funny things on some of the cars I looked at before buying mine, like the shocks being replaced 2 times within the first 60k... that tells you that either they have terrible luck, or that the car is driven on hectic surfaces. Also check brake replacement frequency - gives an indication of how much car did towing & whether the car was driven like a sports car (not good for diesels).
