Went to Mitsu in Midrand to get a oil level sensor, which is a non service type item. Midrand had none but he said that Sandton had two of them in stock and refered to it as 'Imperial' stock?. As Sandton is not that far from Midrand I went there myself and got the part. Slightly expensive in my mind at just over R800, but must admit that I did not expect to get it for at least the next 8 weeks according to reports on here, so I was pleasantly surprised!
Might be that Imperial is getting on top of the stock issues. Of course this in the central Gauteng area, not sure what the situation is in the outlying areas.

Not sure if a windshield from Glasfit is a Mitsu part, but Glasfit could lay there hands on one immediately. I was also prepared for the worst, expecting to head off on holiday with a badly cracked window.
Nope, locally manufactured and supplied by Shatterprufe (PG Group). And my indy says he's had a struggle with Mitsu for 3.2 glowplugs - it seems they don't regard the glowplugs as service items.

Red Paj received the 75k service yesterday - no rear pads available. They will call me when they get in and then I'll have to take the car back to have those fitted.
The dealer is 50km away and it involves both our cars to drop the Paj off the previous evening and to collect again the following day. Rather big inconvenience.

Nelspruit - i wanted to buy a fuel filter sensor for gen 3 Pajero, i was told it is on back order from Japan, still waiting after 3 weeks, wanted to buy a steering rack arm, no parts available, not even in jhb, bought and fitted one at N4 suspension in nelspruit. I also got a oil filter at the dealers at R90 where Other spare places ask in the region of R250

I recently tried to purchase two non regular service items from Mitsu. One a rear diff mount and the other were front CV boots. Both times there was no stock on hand and I was given the standard drill that they will order and that it will take anything between 4-6 weeks. On both occasions they phoned me 3 days after the order was placed to let me know that they have recieved the stock and that it was ready for collection.
Thus I think stock management is pretty decent. I am still a bit wary of the Imperial distribution takeover and think that the parts might be more expensive than in the past, but as these items were never bought by myself in the days when Daimler Chrysler was still the distributor I have nothing to really compare it with.

Seems Imperial has got a 4-8 week problem.... this will start costing them.
