I'm gonna open up the starter motor and remove the copper grease from the brushes as I learned that is not the correct way of doing it.
Also
My parts have arrived at the dealership and I'll pick them up today or tomorrow.
I'm not sure why I got two bolts for the crank ???
prices are excl vat

prepped organised and clean parts are nicely stored in a big boot

I went looking for lenses for my hella spotlights ( as they were badly cracked and chipped ) but.........
There was an enthusiastic salesman that said I can get brand new spots plus globes at half the price of the hella lenses
So I bought two pairs
wiring done as follows
if (
brights = ''on'') and (
dash switch = ''on'') then (
spots = ''on'')
else
(
spots = ''off'')
Running through a 30 Amp relay with 600watt lawnmower wiring and a 20 amp fuse

600 W / 220 = only 2.7 A
or
2.7 A x 12 V = only 32.7 W
Are you sure about the lawnmower wiring? Check the heat generation carefully. Heat genration is proportional to the square of current.

I wasn't sure about how much current will be flowing and didn't calculate it......yet
so I went overkill with thick wiring and a heavy duty relay. If there is a short anywhere I'm sure the 20 amp fuse will trip.
The spots are rated at 55W each.

..., but the wiring from a 600 W lawnmower will be sized with a working current of 2.7 A in mind, because it is rated at a voltage of 220V, while each 55W light will generate a working current of 4.6A, because the voltage is 12V. You might be OK, but check.

I get 4.8Amps between battery terminal and spotlight positive.
The lawnmower wiring I used - I twisted the pair ( blue and brown ) together for the positive and the spots each have their own ground.
I'm gonna have to up the fuse to 30 amps. Thanks Gerrit.
