Another thing that bothers me, the Pajero has twoo fans in the front, I pressume the one in the front is an electrical one, and the other theone with the magnet. Which does what exactly??
Hang on...the frunt fan is the aircon fan and the other is the radiator... unless I misunderstand what you are talking about, One viscous, and the aircon fan electric.

Hi Simon

If thats the case, should the aircon fan then come on as soon as you switch on the aircon?? Cause its not, ans yet my aircon is working fine!!

correct!

Viscous is driven by pulley and belt.

Electric fan in front is probably for A/C.

I would

check that the radiator fins are clear of mud and are not bent closed
drain all the coolant and
flush through the pipes and passages with a hose ( best done with thermostat removed - don't overtighten when putting it back as aluminium strips easily )
Maybe leave the thermostat out while the flushing agent is in there.
( don't flush cold water through a hot engine ).
Fill with flushing agent ( found at midas or autozone )and drive for about 200km.

repeat this 3- 4 times and then

put a genuine mitsu thermostat in
put a genuine mitsu 0.9bar radiator cap on
fill with caltex extended life coolant and distilled water ( NOT tap water ).

Repeat this flushing procedure 3000km down the line again.

This should clear all your problems.

Hi Guys,
Was it a wise move to remove viscous fan and replace it with an electric fan?
Will there be long term problems?
Thanks

Hi

OMGness, I have never fluid that dirty EVER. an ugly brownish towards red colour. Thanx 4E I think two more flushes and the even the bloody pipes will go white....

I somme did an oil change and flush while I was there. should the new oil be clear or should it still have darker colour when checking. Let me explain better. I drained the oil and put a new oil filter on. the Oil was pitch black!! I let it stand for a bit to be sure that everything gets drained. I pour new Shell Helix in and checked the levels, the oil on the stick was clear. Checked it again this morning and it considerably darker, not black, but darker. Should I flush again in say 5000km?? which at this rate of driving should be in two weeks.

Other than that the dude at Midas gave me Aqua clear for the Radiator as well, about 20 bucks, he says it works great dissolve rust and grime and stuff. but the bottle clearly states that it should not be mixed with anti-freez. Should I just next time round use distilled water and no coolant?? Or can I mix it in????

use normal tap water with the flushing agent in the radiator. After the flushing cycles use anti-freeze and distilled water to finally fill it up.

diesel engine's oil will go black within the first 100km due to the nature of a diesel engine.

petrol engine's oil can stay cleaner for longer. See this thread here - https://www.4x4community.co.za/forum/sh ... hp?t=36591

PS : make sure the system is 100% clear of flush agent before filling with antifreeze and distilled water.

For future
- flush and change coolant every 2 years or 30'000km
- change diesel engine oil every 5000km-7500km

Hi

So how do I make the switch with the oil?? I know it is dirty as hell in there at the moment, so I don't want anything to go where it shouldn't.

And e=where can I buy the 400 Oil??

Cheers

Go from normal Shell Helix to the Delo 400. I don't want to have any trouble with the change over.
