I can now report back on the dash you have worked on Kurt. Have just returned from an extensive trip to Kaokoland. The dash rattle is substantially better. On "normal" corrugated roads it is now almost gone. However, on very severe corrugated roads, ie Marienfluss, there is still some shaking although there is about a 70 % improvement on the previous state. I am happy with it the way it is now. The Marienfluss roads are something to experience !

Hi all

I have a Gen 3 2005 GLS (I think, might be a GLX?) SWB 3.2 DID. I'm also experiencing the dash movement. Not so much of a rattle but the whole dash moves, even on a "normal" tar road. Kurt and Johan, will your fixes work for the Gen 3 also? If not. Up for another challenge?

Yes we can have a look. I see you are in Klerksdorp, which weekend works for you because I will need to make a set of brackets. Send me a message when you know when you can make it.

Ja Callie, I'm sure those roads are bad. We experienced very bad Kgalagadi roads 2 years ago and I swore I wouldn't return. Maybe with the brackets i might try it again. Corrugations are not my favourite thing, that i can say with certainty :)

Kurt,

If at all possible, I would like to visit when you install a dashboard "silencer". I do not need one but would like to see what it looks like and how you install it.

Has Mitsubishi ever commented on any of our writings here ? I find it astonishing that such a common problem can be ignored by them
Kurt, he problem with my rear door knock was the lock mechanism. Mitsu fixed it for me
Going to Richtersveld on Sunday and will report again re the dash

Hi Have spoken to the head of mitsu technical and he is very confident that their fix is 100% succesful.he also states that they dont get many queries on dash shakes, but thats because most people dont drive on rough enough roads to actually see it.
Also,it sounds like most dealers dont forward the complaints to the head office and hence theyy actually unaware of how big the problem is.
Secondly it seems many dealers are doing the fix in their own manner and not getting results.
The mitsu fix requires the removal of the whole dash which is very very time consuming hence the reluctance of many dealers to not want to offer it.
I have offered my fix to them on a few occasions as my fix is somewhat more rigid than theirs and takes up to a maximum 2 hours to complete. It would have them huge time and money and dealers will certainly be more willing to do it if the labour is so much quciker
