It seems i'll be a mechanic by the time this is over.

Okay so I replace the hose, and got genuine Mitsu radiator cap.
Took it around the block, looong way around, and just as I was happy to return home, she dies, completely, She starts no problem but does not idle for more than a second and dies again.

Now what the hell can this now be?? She did not get warm. Her temp was running 100% normal. And let me tell you to she is heavy to tow.

Please help!!!

Does it die dead? ( electrical )

Or does it cough, splutter, smoke and die? ( fuel related )

Does it run well when it does run?

She starts then dies immediately. No stutter or cough nothing. goes up to about a thousand revs then back to zero.

That sounds like an immobiliser issue.

Does it have an aftermarket alarm or a factory fitted alarm.

If it is an aftermarket, look for the box and google the make and model for info ( don't post here for security reasons - PM me and I'll help search ) otherwise you will have to take it to an auto elec.

If it is factory fitted, just give your dealer a call and ask for a price to reset the alarm/immobiliser - should take a minute or so.

riiiight. Established that it's not the immobeliser. Since I got her to start this evening.

I got her going by putting my foot flat against the gas to just before the Radiator I would say. No idling though. As long as you keep the revs above a thou she's fine, no stutter, no nothing. Could this just be timing?? And O yha the engine management light goes of but goes on again as soon she's running.

I have replaced the fuel filter end of August but we have put 4000km on her since and these are just about all looong road kilo's of about 350 + kilo's at a streach. with her running close to empty at times. Actually Ithink I should just replace it again.

Other option I presume is air intake then??

That sounds like either the MAF or the idle system with IAC valve stepper motor.

Try the diagnostics found here - as for the 3.0 V6 FI systems.

Andre..

I'm beginning to think this sounds suspiciously like my problem... a buggered Idle Control Valve... Come Thursday I will have an answer for you..

Hi 4E and Simon

I was able to find my problem. With the last pipe the blew my air cleaner sucked sum water into little computer box at the top. laid it in the sun for three hours and refitted it. runs as smooth as ever. resealed the lid. Now awaiting the next disaster.

Cheers guys.
