Re: Snoopy (Pajero 3.2Did) died on me today!
That's a good idea, I'm still enjoying my Jetta but a 320D will be even better. Hope you get a decent trade. You could also look at a FL2 if the deal is right at Land Rover? My father has the diesel FL2 and he had two Bee Ems before that, 328i and 330i and he reckons this is the best car he has ever owned because it has enough oomph and on the open road he gets 7.5L/100km

Re: Snoopy (Pajero 3.2Did) died on me today!
Cats, glad to hear that you have your car back and all is good despite a lighter wallet.

Now, looking at your photo, is the part in the very middle of all the bits the TCV ? and was it replaced because its stuffed or because 'you might as well do it at the same time' ?

The reason I ask is that my 2006 is suffering from the issue of the T/C and ASC light coming on momentarily when hauling up a hill, lights go off the soon as I tap off. Im getting a code 43 error signal and by all accounts everybody says its injector pump. Some people say its just the TCV and lots of people dont know.

Before I fork out R25k that I dont have for a pump rebuild I would like to try just the TCV. I would be willing to buy it from you if yours is still good.

Thanks

I have NO idea what those parts are and even if they do in fact come from my vehicle. I replaced what AB told me to replace and accepted their professional word on the matter. They left this taped up box in my car with my registration nr on and this is what was inside. You are more than welcome to any of the parts at no cost if they would mean anything more to you than just being a paperweight.

before you start sending parts away, please take a bunch of photographs and post it in a new thread.

I'd be very keen to see some of the parts that make the 3.2 tick.
Re: Snoopy (Pajero 3.2Did) died on me today!
So I did my first big trip after the pump rebuild and injector replacement to the Kgalagadi from Centurion.

Unfortunately it did not end well as on my way back 20km outside Upington the engine lost power and clouds of white smoke poured out the exhaust. I managed to drive like that to the Mitsu agents in my own James Bond cloud of smoke. Prognosis at Mitsu in Upington by just looking and listening is that it has hole in piston, block or collapsed oil ring. Possibly blown gasket. I had to rent car to get back and decided to let Pajero get loadbedded back to Centurion. Got it last night after the truck that brought it broke gearbox in Klerksdorp and they had to get another truck.

To say I am @#$& peeved off and disapointed will be putting it mildly.

Not sure what I will do now but my money pit is all but empty. Fix? Sell? Keep? Scrap? Have had a few sleepless nights with all these questions rolling around in my head. :-( :-( :-(

Hell CATS that is a real bummer. Just after you've spent the R30,000 on the pump. Reading from your thread

I hope it is just the head gasket. To me white smoke is produced when the anti-freeze in the coolant gets into the combustion chamber. That will happen if the gasket blows out. Good luck from here on.
