That's V6 consumption you're talking. Which is to be expected considering the load. Once you start demanding real power, the consumption goes up, both petrol and diesel and pretty much evens out.
As for the auto box, that is the best of many good things about my 2002. When towing, the tip shift is the answer, down shifting long before the auto would have done it, resulting in optimum revs at all times. At speeds in the 100 to 110 range my consumption comes down to 18l/100km at times. Granted, mine is never as heavily laden as yours.
I assume your tow hitch is still attatched to the Pajero. From your photos it looks like the extension must give that heavy caravan some serious leverage on the mounting points.
Sounds like an enjoyable maiden voyage for Casper!

I did manage to break something on the trip. I think the extreme dust and heat got to the Stabilus German built rear door stop gas strut. I never liked this contraption and much prefer the manual setup on the previous gen3 Pajero, but I guess it does help in opening and closing the rear door a little more sophisticated.

Unbelievably Mitsu Centurion on my return had in stock and I purchased it right away. Fitment took all of 30 seconds but part price was a bit of a gasp moment. I think the R1250 might be a bit steep. I would have been happy to pay around R850. Anyway. Bought and replaced.

I think those spots are damaging the airflow . Just kidding - couldn't help myself.

The black rims are seriously brutish. No calling this beast a "her" any more.

I also think the spots restrict airflow. A lightbar has been on my request list to Santa :-)

Amazing what a bit of colour can do! Exact same rim and a bit of Plastidip in a can and it transform the whole look. Not sure if I like it yet. Will drive around like this for the next few weeks and then decide if am leaving it or peeling it. Had the cans in my garage for ages so thought I will give it a go.
