A built-in compressor is such a cool thing to have (don't seem to have little green mannetjie to place here).

What make is it? A have seen some super compact ARB jobbies.

Mine is a very old model ARB. Transfered from one vehicle to the next. The new ones are alot more compact and faster. I played around with cheap stuff for a while but they always seemed to pack up when you need it most. My ARB is not the fastest but it has a very good duty cycle so can basically pump forever and never has to stop to cool down.

People will say that the heat under the hood will reduce performance due to the density of air, but I say the convenience of having it out of the way but still usable within seconds makes up for the time lost due to the density thing.

Must say from all my kit it is probably used the most, even if it is often to pump the kid's bicycle tyres.

Re: The story of Casper 3.2Didc GLS LWB 2009
So went down to Sedgefield from Gauteng over the weekend and picked up a funny grinding and knocking noise on the right rear wheel from about halfway in Colesberg. Luckily made it to our destination in one piece but today need to find out what is the cause as there is no way I am driving back like this in a week's time! Hopefully only a small rock stuck somewhere but I believe it might be a stuffed wheelbearing hub. Will start the dismantling today and see and can hopefully get it fixed tomorow when the shops are open again. Hopefully parts are not going to be an issue :-(

Eish - why me?

Thanks Gentleman.

After taking the wheel off, wait a minute! Why are these nuts not as tight as I remembered them? Anyway. After taking the wheel off, taking the brake caliper off and inspecting the pads, still good, removing the whole brake disk and fidling a bit with the handbrake mechanism. Removing dustcap on bearing. Cant seem to find anything glaringly wrong to me? Turning the hub by hand and shaking it sideways as much as I can also doesnt indicate any unecpected looseness or noises? OK at least nothing seem to be at the last legs of catastrophical failure!?

Put it all back together and take a drive to the garage. Noise all GONE!:-) :-)

Could it be that the nuts were the culprits here? Remember I Plastdipped the rims myself not too long ago. Maybe I didnt tighten it up again properly?

Anyway. So far I am ecstatic!!!!

Hopefully the noise doesn't reapear once it heats up a bit. Keeping fingers crossed.

Re: The story of Casper 3.2Didc GLS LWB 2009
Cats you might not know of (note my age) those white Trail Duster rims were a problem in they were inclined to come loose and that the nuts had to be checked regularly until they settled through the white "paint / powder coating?". Hope you have no more problems.

Well after a solo run, no Xplorer on tow this time, down to Sedgefield and back to Gauteng it was time for the 140000km service. Minor service and done at Mitspro in Centurion. Was pleasant enough and price was OK. All good. Had to replace the center brake light globes - again. Will have to keep an eye on them and maybe try and source some better quality globes or bright led's.

Hey Christo..how's my packing system holding up?

It's been a while since I visited this forum......I really really miss my pajero and as soon as finances allow...there will be one in my driveway again.
Re: The story of Casper 3.2Didc GLS LWB 2009
Packing system system still going strong! I added one brace to make it even sturdier but other than that all still original MThompson work :-)

PS - How are the Scoob treating you? Is it true that it is "All we'll drive"? Saw that on the back of a Subaru some time ago and thought it was pretty sharp!

Re: The story of Casper 3.2Didc GLS LWB 2009
Let me guess...at the back bottom of the legs?

The scoob is nice, really fun on a dirt road and even sand.....but it's no pajero. It handles dirt roads better.....not much and defiantly not as comfortable as a pajero....o and packing space, miss all the space in the pajero....and with a little one that joined the family a month ago space is needed.

I would like to keep the scoob and sell the civic for a pajero....but I'll get more for the scoob than a 2006 civic.....guess we'll see how the civic holds up over the next few years.

Enjoy casper....hope you get as many and more happy miles as you got with snoopy.
