Now there is a worthy cause! I copped out due to time constrainths and bought a Birkinesque home-built with 1600 Kent motor. Been standing for two years minus engine (after it swallowed an aircleaner stud) .. all the work is done, just need to find the time to fit the motor. Let me know if you need a copy of Ron Champion's book ....

O ja, welkom!

Thanks gents.

As for the Lotus 7 - well I spend some time with friends that already have their vehicles and simply love it. I am considering starting to build my vehicle later this year when I slow down a bit. I don't personally know Ron Champion's book but I take it it would be of great help. So let me know what it entails and I would appreciate a copy.

Cheers

Pierre

Hi Pierre!

Ron Champion is the guy that really put the Locost (i.e. homebuilt Lotus 7 replica) on the map with his book "How to build your own sports car for £250". The title is misleading, but he did publish some chassis plans and good few construction techniques that someone with amateur mechanical skills could use to build a car. It is a 50MB download from www.mediafire.com/?jud5hmdkhml or I can write it to disk for you. Maybe you should join the forums on www.locostsa.co.za and www.lotusregister.co.za to help build the ethusiasm.

Good luck!

Francois
