Importing a Pajero

I would really like some input on an option I am considering. I am considering purchasing a new Pajero in the UAE and bringing it back to South Africa in about 3 years time. The costs differences appear to be enormous, one can by a Pajero LWB 3.8 V6 GLS for the equivalent of about R280K in the UAE (approx R580K in South Africa). If I owned the car in the UAE for a year I would not have to pay import duty into SA. I would have to pay shipping, about R40K, and the cost of conversion from LHD to RHD - I understand about R50K. That adds about R90K onto the purchase price, bringing it to R370K - still appears to be substantially less than the cost of a new vehicle in SA.

So, what are the pitfalls? Is the conversion as simple as it sounds? Am I in the right ballpark as far as conversion costs are concerned? Any advice?

Thanks for reading.
