All Pajeros are born in Maputo

After being in Maputo yesterday, I firmly believe all Pajeros are born there - it is amazing how many Mozambicans drive them, thats apart from the other Mitsu vehicles. Guys looking for 2nd hand parts will have a ball. The 2nd most SUV is the Toyota Prado from what I could see.
I also noticed that the small oval indicator light on the front fender of the Pajeros are pop riveted to the body with a small aluminium strip to stop them from being stolen off. Crazy, but practical.

I observed the same when I was there earlier this year, and I could not understand that especially the Gen 2.5 Blister Fender model are available in those numbers. Then I heard that India is apparently still building the Gen 2.5 model. How true this is, I don't know, but it now makes sense as I saw numerous Gen 2.5 models in showroom condition in Maputo, which did not make sense when I saw them. Some of those vehicles were definitely newer models than 1999 models when they were replaced by the Gen 3.
Is there somebody that can confirm whether those models are still manufactured by India or some other Asian country?

Indeed. Have a look at the Mitsubishi India website:

There seems to be only one model and it is the LWB 2.8 TD.
Are those colour schemes for real?
They also sell the Gen 4, but under the Montero model name:

I can't access this website - AVAST warns me of a threat if I proceed and disconnects my connection. Anybody else encountering this?
They do have some funny color schemes on those Gen2.5's in Maputo.

WOW, I see they call it the SFX. And it has SRS airbags.
I wonder whether they will replace it with the Sport?
Good news for sourcing parts in future. Or even a "new" 2nd hand Gen2!
The colour scemes rattles me though. Nothing a spray-painter cant fix.

Geez, I did not see that type of paint jobs on the Pajeros there, but some other more normal looking two-tone schemes.

Vina Star Motors is Vietnam also manufactured the Gen 2 Blister Fender until quite recently (say 2007/2008?), but they used the 6G72 and 6G74 DOHC petrol motors if I recall correctly. They did not have quite such "creative" interior and exterior colour schemes...
