He has a new shape hilux D4D and he took a ride with me on our 4km dirt road at work.

He complimented me yesterday and today on the Pajero's handling. He even admitted that his Toyota doesn't handle like the Pajero.

The look on his face when I told him it's a 1993 model and cost me less than R60k up to now, was priceless!

PS : I just realised that the Pajero still has the OEM shocks in (265'000km) :D

No news here! I sold my 2007 fortuner (pimped bakkie) and purchased my first Pajero (2003 model) there is no comparison. The Paj was less than half the price and is 10 times the vehicle. Not had one single regret and I feel like a king in it. Just need my POC padded sticker and life is good :D

You should have seen my face when I got out of a S III landy and test drove my pajero, I was so impressed that I did not think twice to pay 10X what the landy cost me.

Yawn... This is old news for "old" Pajero owners. Not being supprized as other brand owner compliments the ride, quality, capability etc, etc
Jeezzz it amazes me sometimes how they can carry on, and on... Just go buy a Pajero and get it over

I think on balance for what most of use our vehicles for, the Pajero is a winner.

But this weekend my friend (who owns a KZTE Hilux) drove with me at Marcuskraal 4x4. He never said anything negative about the vehicle but I knew he was thinking that the Pajero (being a petrol, and no D/L) is less sure footed offroad than his diesel hilux would be. And having been with him on a trail in his vehicle, I am inclined to agree.

But then again his vehicle is protected to the hilt and mine isn't.

Horses for courses, but at least i can play my iPod at sensible volumes with that V6 growl just audible, and be able to overtake at will, and not feel like I have to have back surgery when I get home.

BTW, the wife absolutely forbids me to ever replace an SUV with a bakkie.
