Wanting to buy a 2nd hand DiD
Hello All

What a forum this is!

I am looking at a 2nd hand Pajero GLX 3.2 DID LWB 2006 model with 86000km on the clock. The vehicle drives really well. What should I look out for? I have noticed that 4Llc does take some time to engage, however the process is sped up by selecting neutral before engaging 4Llc. Is this normal?

I also want to know if this vehicle is fitted with traction control and hill decent control, and can the radio display indicate fuel consumption or is that only the case with GLS models??

What kind of fuel consumption could I expect in the city and long distance (135km/h)?? Will driving it in manual mode in city traffic make any difference to fuel consumption?

Is the oil change interval 7500km, or 10000km? Is it easy to do? (I've been doing it myself on my Ford Ranger 2.5TD for a couple of years now).

Thanks in advance!!

It is recommended by Mitsu - I saw it on the Gen3's sticker today.

I know the DiD's are very economical - 10l/100km and below - at 100-115km/h but I'm not sure what the consumption would be at illegal speeds ;)

The dealer should be able to tell you pretty quickly.

Welcome to the forum.

Hello here

Yes the 4x4 selection that you describe is normal. The procedure is well documented in the owners manual and if followed will give best/fastest results.

The model that you refer to is definately not fitted with hill descent control but does feature incline assistance by using engine braking, by 'holding' the gears longer on inclines/declines.

The GLX is not fitted with TC in 2006, but rather with a rear difflock, which I actually prefer. Some GLX models(2004-2006) came out with both at some stage and some very early ones(2004 mayby) came out with only the TC. Have a look out for the D/L switch in front of the gear lever and you will know that you have difflock.

The 2006 GLX model have a grey information screen which cannot show fuel consumption. These screens also ALL give problems with dry joints over the years as they age and loose some numbers on the time display.

Fuel consumption should be about 8,5-9,5km/l at that speed I would think? The auto is not too bad so using it in manual mode will not change it a lot, unless you are towing, where using the manual option might help a bit.

Oil change is every 7500 IIRC, Mine is still done every 5000km so not sure what the requirements are.
As oil changes go it is messy but easy to do yourself.
