I kept smashing my rear bumper so I decided to whip up a new custom bar.

simple to build, used 35mm pipe and checker plate to cover it.

This is 2.5 hours in:

Just needs some paint.

total time is about 5-6 hours. I am happy with it.

Functional and relatively easy to make.

I would have closed it like this to give it more "street appeal", though:

Missing Attachment

Do you have a tow hitch? I guess that can be mounted directly onto the bumper with a reinforcement to the chassis?

Please tell us about those tyres. What are they? I can't recall seing that brand in SA.

Regards,
Anton

But street apeal would also equal a mud build up behind it. and it would be tough to wash.

I have a tow hitch, it fits in the factory place still. will put it in this weekend.

I run austone tyres on the pajero and that sava rv is a spare we bought before heading out. havent drove on it much yet. I do love my austones though.
I am currently in australia

Valid point. I guess it depends on how much it is actually used off-road, and the more it is off-road, the less important street appeal will be, of course. Street appeal really only applies to "mom" when doing shopping!

The Austone track looks similar to the Firestone track. Probably an "Aussuie" brand of Firestone? The brand on the spare confused me though. So you don't really know that tyre yourself (having had it as spare only)?

I don't like 'criticizing' anybody's hard work, but I think it will look so much better if you mount it ±2" higher.

PS Somebody stole your left rear mud flap!

Googled "SAVA RV" - seems to be an Australian tyre that is cheap and receives positive customer reports.

well thats good to know. I have used it for maybe 50km's

and the truck sees a ton of offroading.

Hmmm - I gathered this looking at your intro- photographs!

Great to have the opportunity to be "out there" often!
