Pajero Owners Club of South Africa

It would seem that the Pajero compass changes only in 45 degree steps. After reading WildDog's post and the replies I wonder why provision is not made to simply point the vehicle north and then hit the calibrate button! Driving in a circle, which I have done several times, seems a bit vague and produces questionable results. Perhaps it is to determine the direction and magnitude of the dip in the earth's magnetic field. If this is so it could explain changes in accuracy with latitude but not altitude.

Likewise, the altimeter changes only in 50m steps, but nevertheless one should be able to calibrate zero accurately at sea level. Does anyone know of such provision in Pajeros?

Mitsubishi was clearly of the opinion that no Pajero would be required to make a night landing on a moving aircraft carrier, or they would have spent more money on the compass and altimeter.

To get the best results out of the compass, set the magnetic declination to 20deg E.

The older 4x4's that first appeared with those silly inclinometers, had analog altimeters that could be set manually.

My petrol Pajero has an extra screen with fuel consumption, avg speed and range info. This seems very accurate and I have that screen on display most of the time, with the specific purpose of avoiding the compass screen.

Hi, no cant get the radio to save setting (it doe save the radio station setting). Also the radio does not com on with the ignition after switching off, you have to press the on button and then press the station number. The CT setting can be switched off but then losses the setting if you switch off the radio and leave for a while.

Sounds like the internal battery of the radio is kaput.
