Since I have yet to come across someone in SA that makes a steel replacement rear bumper for the Gen 3, I will start by posting my collection of photos of such items and hopefully inspire someone to commit to making one for me or maybe direct me to someone that does.
I cant remember where I got a lot of the photos from, but credit must go to the guys that took them, especially Icysyrup in the USA for the black one with built in side step.

OK
I think I have found someone in SA that makes these rear bumpers. Hein Burnett at Burnco make a very nice replacement set at R8550 at date of post. Not too bad if you consider that it incorporates a towbar as well, which on its own can cost in the region of R3500. Contact him on 083 656667 or
info@burnco.co.za
Unfortunately he makes them on order and not from a jig, apprently due to low volume and different models like GLX/GLS/Lwb/SWB etc, so he needsthe vehicle for about 4 days to build. The other problem, for me in Gauteng, is that he is situated down in Cape Town

.
Here is one of his rear bumpers. I will download the rest tonight.

I have one of Hein's bumpers on my black LWB. Looks good. Do have a slight problem with the towbar with regards to the safety pin digging into the bumper. After a couple of months I've find a solution, but damage already done. Will have to get the paint touched up. I will try and take some pics over the weekend and post.

I dont like this ones towbar, looks a bit permanent like an anchor for me
I like the ones Benny posted. Neat. I wonder if one could combine the two designs...

The towbar is removable, so no hassles there. What I don't particularly like is the fact that the rear plastic bumper needs to be cut to accomodate the for-fours one.

Heya
Yes, the towbar is removable. Actually they made mouldings of the rear bumper so we still have the rear bumper sections. The did, however, cut the bits that run over the edge of the wheel arch that match the door frame ones. They also had to cut the number plate holder unfortunately to accommodate the tire swing. They offered to mould that section too, but RodneyMW was in a hurry and told them not to worry.
This was supposed to be their first one with improvements expected to later revisions. So far still very happy with it.

Just to give feedback on this thread. I have decided to have a steel rear bumper made by 4fours, now called LYNX4x4
http://www.lynx4x4.co.za and this is what it looks like:

I then got these photos from JUR. Obviously they have a lot of time in his neck of the woods asthis bumper looks even better than the stock standard one but whith the added benefit that it is strong and act as towbar. Excelent for dunes as can be seen in finished product picture (Yes that is the new steel replacement bumper - Amazing!)
