2-stroke in my gen3 Di-D

Just bought a gen3 Di-D.

When I first got it, it would smoke a bit on start up and idle rough until I drive off. I thought it was a faulty EGR giving me hassles.

I added some 2-stroke oil to my diesel and 1 and 1/2 tanks later she is purring like a kitten bathing in a pond of catnip. no starting issues whatsoever. No smoke and no rough idling.

The effect is usually just about instantanuous, but the engine 'smoothness' keeps improving until all the deposits are burnt away.

I felt the V10 TDi in my Touareg becoming smoother and smoother for about 10 tank fulls (with 2-stroke).
Now it is a smooth as a petrol!

I even noticed a difference in my 3.8V6 after three tanks on the open road. That was during May this year. I think the next open road will see some 2 stroke again.

Gerhard, I think it has been a while since your last modern V6 petrol motor experience :twisted:

I have driven a Mitsu 3.8 V6 and it feels pap compared to the V10 diesel dad drives.......and then the diesel uses less fuel on top of that!

What does the 2-stroke oil physically do in a petrol engine?

(Excuse the stupid question, but these technical things takes a while to sink in)!

It is a fact that 2 stroke oil has a clean burn that cleans injector tips, combustion chamber, piston tops, exhaust valves and exhaust ports. The debatable question is whether it aids in lubricity for the fuel pumps - especially in diesel engines.

Hi,
can you recommend me how much is "some 2-stroke oil" for petrol engine 3,5V6 (Gen2)? Is there any recommendation about type/quality of this oil? You know, you can buy oil for new bike (7000-8000 RPM) or for some low RPM... what is recommended?

I just buy the ones that they sell at the caltex garage (I like caltex products) and mix it in at 200:1 ratio.

Thank you, probably I can't use caltex in Europe but some Castrol will be OK I hope.

Sorry, is there any difference between synthetic and mineral two stroke oil for this goal?
Maybe some specification could be useful as we have completely different marks here.
