Is It Worth It
I Just wonder if it is really worth it to make use of our Genuine Mitsubishi Agents???
I have been a loyal Mitsubishi Man for the past 12 years and never had a bad word to say about the product. I am always convincing other people to change to the Mitsu brand
For the past 5 Services done at my nearest Agent it cost me a arm and a leg. But that is not the biggest issue.
Three services back: Complain about the smoke in the morning. Reply: We not sure what causes it.
How Specialized are they?
Two services back: Told them about left drive light and number plate lights not working. Had to drive back following day to have it fixed. Plus complain about brake fluid that was toped up to top of reservoir.
Last week service: 330000km Service. I Complain about Difficult start: Two hours later my first call came. Sir we need to replace both your front wheel bearings. Left one replaced 7000km back? I said only do the Right.
Reply I got when I collecting my vehicle after 2 days. Sir it is your battery. I took the vehicle to Battery Centre and had them test it. Founding’s: Absolute nothing wrong with it.
I just returned from Bosh where they had to replace the brushes on the starter motor and it is staring at ease again.
Also with the last service I had to plug the sensor from the Diesel filter in again. They obviously replaced the filter but never plug the sensor back in.
For the past three services I am paying for Window cleaner and the reservoir stand and leak everything out on the shop floor???? I know it leaks....But not once have they told me?
R150 .00 Labour for changing Air Filter??? 4 Clips...Toss it aside, put new one in and fasten the clips.
I think it took me longer to type that sentence then to do the job.
My concerns is, I always pay anything from R5000.00 to R 9000.00 when picking up my car.
I honestly think that if these small things can happen? When am I going to experience a BIG mistake??
I do not think it is worth the money spend at Mitsubishi Agents?????

I hear you!

The unfortunate thing is that the product is only as good as the service. Fortunately you can shop around, and I would seriously recommmend you do not use that agent, but rather use someone like Mitspro that actually works for their money!

Initially I hated the term: "stealers" when referring to the dealers, but I am afraid, it is increasingly ringing true...

Out here (Bellville) we have a guy at the dealer (JJ Smit) who knows his product. Same in Worcester (Brian Seymor), but it seems these guys are few an far between...

It is worrying when the service agent loses his clients like this. A lost client may just land up with another brand. But then their service is not necessarily better!

In short, my opinion to your question is NO. Go get a private guy who knows what he is doing! And if that is a reputable place, changing away from the dealer should not affext your retrade value - the ONLY bit of security the agents seems to be hanging onto...

Happy hunting!

In short. NO

I don't believe we get the quality of service we pay for. I service with a Levi and John in Boksburg at Mitsubishi specialists. and I know I get what I pay for.
They are not much cheaper than the dealers, but they always go the extra mile!!

Sad to hear about the bad wrap that you got,

Fortunately I am in a different boat in that I have the technical skill to take care of my own niggles and service, do I get an inferior outcome? I doubt that. The answer is to get a reputable service center but that is as difficult as finding second hand coffin nails. I have had enough bad experiences while managing a fleet to know that chancers are not limited to dealerships.

Find a good and trustworthy mechanic and stick to him and you will probably have the best of both worlds at half the cost. Agents tend to stick to genuine spares often at premium prices where as non franchised operators can offer you a wider choice and they tend to focus more on problems that are there rather than anticipate niggles that might happen at certain ages of the vehicle. Another important point to consider is that the non franchised guy will do everything in his power to impress you as this is the best way to ensure future business for him, the agent merely says "we will do it on the next service" and conveniently forgets about it.

When i bought my Pajero second hand, people(other brand owners) told me that i will pay an arm and a leg for every service at the dealers. I shopped around and took my car to an independent workshop where i got excellent service at a reasonable price.
Fortunately the next service they could not accommodate me on a certain date and i had to make use of a dealer
WHAT A SURPRIZE!! Friendly, capable people helped me from the first telephone call booking the service, organising a loan car for the day,and servicing the car to the standard i expect from a dealer.
The biggest surprise was the bill, nearly R400 cheaper for the same service.
All i can say is that if all agents are like Stanmar motos in George there is no reason to go to an independent workshop

Hi Guys
It is definitely very Sad news that this is how agents handle the people that support the product.
The flipside of the coin is that they will end up not getting the end-users support! That again will just cause again that the new owners is going to end up paying more.
Somebody need to pay for the snazzy workshops and showrooms.
