So I noticed my transfer case was sweating oil, not leaking per se, reported it to Mitsubishi Strand during service last week, they say that yes its just sweating and not a leak and they checked the oils and everything okay.
Should I be concerned...or is this a typical situation - cant say i had bothered to look much under the vehicle before, but it was working hard on dust roads...

Hi, I had the front drive shaft from transfer case "sweating" a bit of oil close to the seal, when doing hard work in 4H... Seems to be the case when long periods of torque are applied.
Cheers

Hopefully all sorted, a new oil seal - apparently they had to remove prop to fit, so im assuming its where the shaft spins and probably sprayed oil all over the transfer case, looking like its sweating.
My only complaint - they didnt clean everything nicely so still oily - will get an under-carriage wash to make sure all is now sorted.
The service at Mitsubishi East Rand has been excellent!

mac,
Did you have to pay anything, or was it covered?

PREPSOL works like a charm to lift grease / oil.

Yip it was covered on the maintenance plan. Sadly that has now expired, so just in time!
