Spotlights Installation

Hi,
I know there should be some info regarding the installation of spots here on this forum hence I can not find it though.
I fitted two spots on the roof and would like to know how to connect it. It must be a simple procedure including a relay but I am not a Sparky so if someone can tell me how to go about it I would appreciate.
I do not want it to come on with the brights though, I just want a simple tokkel switch that I can select only when needed in the bush or something.
(how do I run the wires from the roof to the dash? Can I remove that rubber strips on the sides of the roof of the Gen 2 SWB?)
Thanks
Renier

Did you fit it into the roof (drill holes into the roof)?
Make sure about the legality of (a) having spots on the roof, and (b) not relaying them through the brights switch...

Alternator & battery size

Have been having much trouble with my alternator charging at 16v's. I have now had it reconditioned 3 times but after 2 days it starts peaking again. I have now bought a new alternator and am trying that it is charging at 14.5 plus v's and I hope it stays there. What should the correct charge be for the 90 amp alternator.
I would also like to know what is the standard size battery the V6 3.5 comes out with. As I bought mine 2nd hand and the batteries were all changed to small batteries around 60 AH. The vehicle was bought with an old dual battery system so I have made a digital monitor and fitted it on the center console. As its digital it shows me exactly the charge and state of any of the batteries at a throw of a double throw, double pole with center off. The Colour led lights I found were too inaccurate as they were not properly screened between them. So the lit led's would provide light for the next making it difficult to see the correct reading at a glance. The digital panel has big numbers and can be seen at a glance.
Thanks for any information that might be passed my way on this subject.

it should charge between 13.9-14.9volts. (outside temp will make it vary - NOT rpm)

14.5V Is good and probably the top that you should get. Alternators often use voltage to up the charging amperage. A small 35ah unit would not go above 13,7v while a 4Ah would not go above 14v. This is where the merit of a good aftermarket volt meter comes in, not only will it give you battery condition but as you get to know the ins and outs of your vehicle you would be able to judge charging rate as well.
If the voltage goes above 14.7 I would have it seen to as it is creeping a bit high, keeping in mind that it can reach this voltage if the battery is flat or you have a heavy load running.
I have 10 lights on the front end of my pajero and if I fire all 10 up, not only does the birds start singing but the voltage tends to creep towards the 14.5 mark. Once I return to the black top the voltage stabilises at 14v.
