Hi guys

I've been looking at putting air lifters/helpers on my 1997 gen2 Pajero 3.5 LWB as the PJ's rear end started sagging (PJ is even heavier on fuel cause it is allways having to tow the trailer uphill) when I hook on my Venter Bush baby  . I've spoken to LA Sport in George and they quoted me +- R4200 parts + installation  . I then mailed Air Spring company in GP and Gremeltech Air suspension in Cape Town. This morning Air Spring co. came back to me with a price of R19?? od rands delivered @ my house :!: . I then phoned Peter from "Specialized Air Brakes & Clutch" in George with whom I do a lot of business regarding the installation. He said that he might be able to get me some as well from some-one in the Cape. Now by this time Gremeltech came back to me and they quoted me R23?? odd rands. then 15min later Peter phoned me with a price of R19?? odd rands as well and guess from who :?: :?: :?: GREMELTECH :!: :!: :!: Well I've ordered it through "Specialized Air Brakes & Clutch" and it will arrive tomorrow and be fitted by "Specialized Air ........" tomorrow. Then by mid April we're planning a long week-end in the Baviaans :!:  ;)

Bennie,

Please take pics of the installation and feed back. I would like to also consider this to support the rear suspension.

Tell us about any effect on the articulation, please.

Thanks,

Anton

I have a set of these air lifter springs in my 2.8 LWB and they are fantastic..just done a trip to Richtersveld fully laiden and ride height is maintained as well as it prevents bottoming out when on these really poor gravel tracks and one hits a dip. Although you can pump to 4 bars my suggestion is dont exceed 2.5 to 2.8 , as although these bags have a compression safety factor of 2.5 ( ie can compress to 12 bar ) from experience 2.8 max is a great compromise between ride height and wheel travel . Also instal with individual inflating points , not 2 into 1 with a single point. This allows one to inflate on bag to say 2.8 and one to 2.3 if do to packing one side is heavier than the other. Also if you are on a side slope , the down side coil is under greater pressure , and if connected together , can transfer this greater pressure to the up slope wheel , exactly what you dont want.

If you want to have installed in CT , go to Malcolm @ Malcolms Auto Centre 021 5118763 in Maitland ( an ex Mitsubishi mechanic ) who is fantastic and has done many . Also does all servicing.

Rotor-Racer,

Thanks for sharing your view and resources.

Will you please "register" your Maitland Mechanic here: Pajero Workshop Recommendations

It will make it easy to look up in future.

Thanks,
Anton
