Evening all,

Hope you can assist me as I think I either need a new gearbox or i need to replace the thrust bearings and clutch. When I shift from neutral to 1st it seems to stick a little and I need to either apply a little force or jiggle to get it in. This also seems to happen from 1st to 2nd and sometimes 2nd to 3rd.

I have a 1999 2.8TDI (4M40) 5sp (If I understand SimonB's General Specs of Pajero Models post) now I was talking to a guy who says he replaced the original/standard gearbox with one from a Toyota Cressida (same as the one they use in some of the taxi's) so I was wondering what your thoughts were on this? Good? Bad?
I've heard before where guys have put other makes of gearboxes, engine's etc into other vehicles with varying degree's of success.

Friend of mine had a problem with the synchros on his Mitsubishi Colt and the mechanic told him that this seems to be a "common" thing with some of the older Mitsubishi models. Is this something anybody else has perhaps experienced?

Look forward to your assistance.

Regards,

Remember that the box is over engineered for a 3ton canter truck. 1st should only be used from a standstill position.

The boxes are abit sticky when the oil is old or the wrong spec. If you can still find it, use caltex easyshift and you will have much better shifting.
