Gen3 SWB Packing System and Fridge draw
I have just completed my drawer and fridge slide system for the SWB.
Decided to use 18mm Marine Ply for carcass. This was covered with good quality carpet.
As I was concerned about the fridge slide being too close to the back door when opened, I decided to use some space for utensils such as my braai grid, etc.

All the drawers can lock. The drawers are made from plate metal that was bent. I then used 9mm (or was it 11mm??) ply wood for the fronts. Drawer's insides were also covered in carpet.

To fasten this system, I removed the back seats. I then used some steel and wood brackets in the existing positions where the seats were, to fasten this system, plus another smaller 'rack' to 'level out' the uneveness in the floor behind the front seats (maybe the photies will help explain later...). At the back, I simply made use of the existing tie-down brackets of the SWB to tie it down making use of some turnbuckles, U-bolts, etc.

After the handles and locks were installed as well as the so-called antiluce fitting for the fridge drawer locking mechanism ...

This is the additional packing area for attaching to the vehicle floor and the drawer system. Brackets are from steel with wooden spacers to level out the floor area for an even attachment surface

I had to remove the system for the next 2 weeks as I need the seating space to transport some people. I will take some more pictures as soon as i have the system back in the car, to show a complete, finished view.

Wow,

That is a very nice and especially neat looking installation.

I especially like what you've done in the front, bu the back seats.
Have you thought of putting trapdoors in that area to access the space underneath for cables / gloves etc?
Also, is your jack not stored in that section.

Once again, very nice work.

Cheers

Hi Mcnoogle
Thanks for the compliments.
The SWB jack is stored at the back behind the righthand side tail light. That is why I have the cut-out on the right hand side of the carcass to allow easy access for opening the lid.

Yes, I have thought of it and maybe I should have done it from the word go. But I was working against time and needed to finish it. I like the idea and will most definately look into ways of utilising the space underneath.

Thanks to everyone's positive feedback!
