Low range problems

Last December our Sport showed symptoms of deselecting itself three times from low range within a few minutes.
This is of course quite dangerous for the unwary – as it goes into neutral-So one has to immediately use brakes- so now I don’t trust the transmission.
It is due for its 20K service in about a months time- Midrand agents were notified when we got back from holiday..
so we will see what happens.
Strange thing is that deselection has only happened going forward. Reversing seems to be OK.
Being the wife’s car I haven’t driven it since so I really hope the gremlin shows its ugly self to the dealer - or I can see my self getting involved.
Not being the first time it occurred we video’d footage of the event and this will accompany the vehicle when it goes in.
Selector feels quite stiff and unwieldy to me but as I don’t have anything to compare it with I must assume this is normal. I hope its just an adjustment.
