Definitely DO post pictures of your results
I have looked into it and the biggest problem I foresee is where to mount them. The two mounting points for the side steps (standard on the GLS models) are a good place to start but not strong enough for pukka rock sliders in my opinion. There is a third potential mounting point in the middle that I have identified.
Benhur has "sliders" on his Gen3 and they apparently just bolt onto the mounting points of the original side steps so perhaps they are stronger than they appear. Bennie, perhaps you could post some pictures and comment on whether yours have sustained any damage yet?
Good luck!
Cheers
Bruce

I'd definitely be interested to see any pictures of Gen 3 rocksliders - especially how they are mounted. Cats sent me a reference to a site of some guy in America/ Australia - can't remember which, and I lost the info when my PC was swopped. The solution in that case was to simply cut off the three brackets from the original GLS side steps, weld the "rocksliders" to them and refit. Not ideal, as it would by no means be adequate enough to be called rocksliders. Modified sidesteps perhaps yes. They certainly looked the part - but not much use as far as serious protection is concerned, I'm afraid.

Here is all the photos that I have gathered on the web over the years of rocksliders made for the Pajero with monocoque body. All seem to use the standard mounting points, and from the reports from all, even our own Kai in SA, is that they are indeed strong enough to use as jacking points as well. I have recently got a quote to make sliders from the guy that advertise in the last SA4x4 mag, think he calls himself Roughstuff Rocksliders. It worked out to about R4500 grand before number crunching, so I put it on the back burner a bit, but maybe if we do enough as a group we can get bulk discount. Unfortunately he has no website yet. I actualy have an appointment with him for October to take this up further. What I like of his design is that it included high lift jacking points, as well as protection form sand blasting on dirt roads.
Here is the link to the gallery section with all the photos that I have.

O by the way, one of the BIG DO's when building sliders for a Gen3 Pajero, is to build me a set as well!!
