Gearbox main seal
:( :(
So - when I bought my Pajero a few weeks ago I had a local Mac check it out and he reported no leaks.
I took it to Steve's Auto Clinic for a "bumper-to-bumper" check and quotes on a few maintance things.
They also reported no leaks.
They also came in cheaper changing the ATF (incl filter) and diff oil so I took it there on Monday.

Noticed some fresh oil on my driveway this morning so I took it back only to hear it's the gearbox main seal and they did not work there. Ggggrrrr
Who said - "if something is not broken, don't fix it". Maybe I should have skipped the trans oil changes...anyway.

Could it spring a leak just like that or could it be as a result of something they did?

I'll monitor it for a few days whilst hoping&praying it is merely excess oil left from the oil change.

Eish - Well at least I know where my money is going to...

PS: Ballpar figure to pull the tranny and fix?

Re: Gearbox main seal
Freshman,
Check the drain nut if tightened properly . They should have changed that washer with the nut anyway.
If it is your main gearbox seal it will leak at bell housing and you will almost see it dripping out between bell housing and gearbox.
If it is engine oil you most probably have a crank seal leaking
