VEHICLE WRAPPING

I am now on a mission to explore the benefits of vehicle wrapping to cut costs in say for a sprayjob.
I see that is a big thing in the USA but here it is mostly used for advertising perposes.
The company that I got hold off sent me quotes for total wrap and the prices are not bad.
For a single color it R 6000-00 and for a multi color where you can have any design you want was R9000-00 and this includes a three year service warranty as well as a seven year guarantee on the material. This includes coming out my house and do the whole job at my premises. There is no panel beater that offers this type of warranty .
I am attaching some photos for view and comments.
I am just saving up for some cash and will defenitely go that route.
I must add the multi color wrap is also better protected with a additional cover with UV protection hence the higher costing.

Hi there Paw-by-Paw
great idea, my friend and I have been doing this to our own vehicles with the carbon wrap and it works a treat. As you have mentioned is is far better than having the car sprayed and having to deal with the panel beaters. Nice thing is that when you are tired of the look or color, you simply peal off the vinyl and reapply something else. I would highly recommend it as the vinyl is also rather scratch resistant depending on which you apply.
We have just completed the wrapping on a Nissan 300ZX with the carbon vinyl and it looks great.
Go for it.
Cheers
Johann

Johann your surname perhaps not Moller. If it is I have gotten these from your company. What a coincidence if it is

This would be really something to consider fit me but how do they do things like door pillars. Especially where like on a vehicle mine which has a rust problem on the a pillar.
Is this carbon wrap a full wrap where they do all panels?

Hi Simon
You can wrap the full body or just the panels you want. You can do it yourself as well. Once you get the hang of the vinyl, it is very easy. I can share some tips to those that are interested. Regarding the rust, you do not have to paint the body panel you want to wrap. Just sand and get rid of the wrap, fill the holes if reequired and prime. Then wrap and thatis it. The carbon wrap comes in many colors, so not just black, if you are interested in it.
We do not just wrap body panels, but dashboards, instrement panels and door panels, mirrors, well..anything othe car you want wrapped. The cost of the wrap vinal is about R100 per meter, and is 1,2 meters wide.
I can post you a piece for the pillar if you want to play with the vinyl first.
Cheers

Is this the same as that invisible shield stuff?
I got a quote for the 'bikini cut', which covered just a section of the nose, and bits of the front - R3500!!
Doing the sides would cost R6000 to R8000 extra!
I'd like to do it, especially before going to central kalahari next year, but seems awfully expensive.

Hi Guys,
I am posting this merely as a information section and do not advertise for or on behalf of the company.
I am sure this guy will give you all the info you need.
Company name: Rapid Wrap Contact Johan Moller at zero seven one three zero four five seven two eight.
They are in Pretoria.
I will not try and do this on my own as I think the fine cutting around sharp edges, corners and all those funny rimples on the bumpers will cause headaches.
I think these guys are proffesional in what they do and it should be left up to them.

Hi paw-by-paw
I agree, rather have it done by the profesionals, as it is not as easy as it seems. For small(ish) pieces that are flat, it is easy enough but may require several attempts until the technique is mastered.
To answer your first questions though, I am not Johan Moller. I just prefer doing things myself rather than someone else working on my vehicles.
Good luck and post some pics afterwards please.
Cheers
Johann
