2 Stroke oil-professional test proves lubricity improvements
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this research was to determine the ability of multiple diesel
fuel additives to replace the vital lubricity component in ULSD (Ultra Low
Sulfur Diesel) fuel.

Super Tech Outboard 2-Cycle TC-W3 Engine Oil
Unconventional
(Not ULSD compliant, may damage 2007 or newer systems)
Eeek! but I suppose its OK to use on our on the 2007+ diesels since our engines are based (or mostly the same) as the 2001 Gen3 engine?

Re: 2 Stroke oil-professional test proves lubricity improvem
FACT : It burns away carbon deposits on exhaust valves, injector tips and combustion chambers
FACT : It adds lubricity to diesel

Speculation : Damage may occur to DPF systems.

I have yet to find a case on the net where an engine (or any sub system) failure was attributed to the use of 2-stroke oil. All who use it, either get positive results, or no results.

I am a believer and see the benefits in my gen3.

The choice is still on you to decide to use it or not and the the consequences are still upon you.

The argument of non believers are that the manufacturer knows best - this is true, but they are forced by tree huggers to incorporate systems that may not be beneficial to the life span of the vehicle (prime example is the EGR system)

I would rather add a few extra carbons (if it may to the atmosphere) than buy a new car with lower emissions that added a whole lot of carbons more into the atmosphere, simply by the process of manufacturing the vehicle.

This thread is not however created with the intention of saying yes or no to using it. It simply put to bed the speculation regarding the lubricity of adding it to diesel. It was always a known fact that it burned away carbon deposits but now we know that it does indeed add lubricity.

I will continue my search for tests performed upon DPF's, CAT's and high pressure injector systems until we can finally eliminate all the speculation and know the bare facts regarding this oil.

dont get me wrong - keen to use it!

Whats DPF?

I'm not a chemical expert but my gut tells me that the clean burning properties of 2-stroke oil (200:1 ratio) may be beneficial to the CATs and DPFs.

I used 2 stroke oil in my gen3 Di-D for about 10'000km (265'000km - 275'000km) before taking out the CAT and it was spotlessly clean!

Hi Marius

I have been following your thread on the two stroke and have added it to my diesel for the last 25 thousand KMs. The engine seems to run smoother, quieter and overall just better in performance. I am amazed every time I add it at the definite difference it makes - in my case it is noticeable. :o That said, my SWB 2001 3.2 Di-D is standing on 255 000 km at the moment so maybe that makes the difference - so in short, I am converted and a believer.

Will let all know if something happens as a result of using it, so far so good though!

Cheers

Johann

Been doing it for longer than I can remember, on both petrol and diesel engines.

Forget about the improvement of lubricity in diesel, even though it is true, it's a bonus.

The real advantage is the clean burning properties of 2SO. The 2SO will remove / prevent the build-up of carbon deposits in the combustion chamber, on exhaust valves and in the exhaust manifold.

@4ePikanni

Which 2SO do you use? The FB rated oil? Am I right in saying that the Gen 3 DiD is not equipped with a DPF?

I must say, I added 2SO (Castrol 2T) to my Hilux KZ for about 20 000km and could really notice the difference. Easier start up in the mornings with no puff on start up and def less clatter when cold.

I've said a lot, but basically I want to know: is the FB rated oil the correct 2SO to use in a Gen 3 Did?

Thanks

Ideally you are looking for a low ash oil but I just chuck in whatever is available at the filling station.

My gen3 does not have a DPF and I have removed the CAT (which was spotless with no signs of blocking after 275'000km - last 10'000km was used with 2 stroke mix)
Re: 2 Stroke oil-professional test proves lubricity improvem
I see you all use it on high-mileage engines.

What are the chances of me observing an impact at around 70 000km on the clock?
