HI Everyone,

My name is Bennie, and I’m a SIXaddict.

It all started with our family car, a V6 Cortina that I later took over, followed by a V6 VW Camper as a student, a VR6 Golf a couple of V6 D/C Colts, and recently a 4.0 V6 Ranger, but that’s when I realised, when it comes to 4X4’s, I guess I’m a Mitsubishi fan!

Ever since I can remember, I had this incurable obsession to buy broken stuff to fix them, so I sold the Ranger, and bought this sadly neglected 2003 Pajero DID LWB(with a lot of potential) that I hope to take under my care, give her some TLC and put the sparkle back in her eyes. But that’s not a V6 you might ask! I know, I bought a Golf TDI a few months ago, and kinda fell in love with the good balance between economy and power delivery...so here we go, BUT, just to maintain the balance, I still have a 74 F100 5.8L V8 in the garage, as well as a 56 F100 restoration project hanging from the roof!!

Bennie

Welcome! Watch out for that diesel. It really is addictive! Maybe Mitsu will make it easier for you sometime in the future and bring out a V6 Diesel

Anyway. Please keep us updated as you fix the Pajero up.

My 2001 model is standing on 250 000km and still in good nick, what took the sparkle out of the one that you bought? List? Keep an eye out for the common small problems with the 3.2Did: Timing chain guide, Oil Pressure sender switch being the most common it seems.

Hi Guys, thanx for the welcome.

I promise to keep you guys up to date with pictures( I noticed that pics are VERY important on this forum! LOL)

The sparkle in her eyes disappeared mainly due to terrible paint job. I bought it under the impression that there would probably be some evidence of accident damage hiding somewhere below, but after stripping it completely this past week(rooflining, seats, doorpanels, carpet etc-ALL out) for the re-spray, neither me, nor my panel beater could find any accident repairs. Seemes like someone just over estimated their spray painting abilities, and thought a fresh cote of paint would look nice! Unevenly applied basecoat(flames), and sanding marks(by orbital sander) visible everywhere.

Then there is a diesel leak from the engine bay, still to be investigated.

The bash plates are also missing, and therefore exposing a damaged front diff housing, prepared with Pratleys steel glue!!(JIP, I know! That’s going to be expensive!)

OH, and Brake disk are below limits....I did tell you about my obsession didnt I?
