Window Tinting - How Dark??
I know the law states 35% transmittance for the front side windows and 75% for the windscreen (not that I would touch the windscreen), but what are the legalities regarding the rest of the windows? Does the 35% also apply to the rear passenger windows as well?

I was thinking I wanted the front windows as dark as allowed (35%), and the rear passenger and back windows and door as dark as possible.

What do others have?

Hi Simon,

I had my Gen2 done in the exact shades you mention, if its a reputable company they actually won't tint your front drivers / passenger windows darker than 35%.
I graduated mine 35% fronts, 15% rears and 5% back and tail gate, kinda blends nicely without looking like there is a big difference in the tinting.

your bigger concern is to find someone who does a good job. Mine was done by a crowd in Parklands for R1500 (winter special) which was half the price of Solace at N1 city... BUT, if you look closely there are small bubbles around the edges of some of the windows. Need to take it back to them when I get time.

Re: Window Tinting - How Dark??
Hi Simon, speaking un der correction my car has 35% all round except windscreen. It works like a charm especially in the sun. At night it can be a bit diificult if you want to look outside but who wants to see the ugly ones at night anyway
You can also get smash and grab in the same colours and percetages and I would personally go for smash and grab it makes for a safer option.

Mine is 35% all round and it looks well rounded without looking like a undercover agent car or something.(personal opinion).

Also remeber that going very dark makes it very difficult to see the outside as a passenger and could be a bit frustrting on for instance a game drive with the windows up.
