Pajero Gen3 and 4 Suspension Height measurements

Hi,

I decided to take some measurements before I get my bullbar added on Monday, found some interesting results too. Looks like it is clearly higher on 1 side than the other by between 13 and 17mm.

At the moment my Pajero has 138,000km's more or less on the original suspension, I have gone up 1 size on the tyres from 265/70/16 to 265/75/16. I have also noticed that one of the lowest points on my Pajero is just before the cross member up front, where my second bash plate ends and also where I have sustained the most dings to my bashplate (some serious dings I might add) (in standard form this is plastic, so best watch this spot). I have attached a few pics of the measurements which is before the bumper is fitted and will again after the bumper is fitted, dual battery installed in engine bay and again when I have the spacers fitted or coils (jury not out yet on this one) to get a bit of history around these changes.

Would be nice to have some comparisons from other Pajeros, just noting whether standard or any modifications. I am assuming that the variance can be due to sagging and may well mean considering replacing the coils (see this thread - https://www.pajeroclub.co.za/forum/view ... =28&t=3009 )

The pics indicate the measurement locations as I took them.

David,

I measured the height of my Pajero as per your third and forth photos - that is from the centre of the wheel arches and the measurements are as follow:
front - 88cm and rear - 89cm. That is with my extra fuel tank with about 15lit petrol in it and my drawer system installed. Also keep in mind that I did a body lift on my Pajero -
front = 50mm and rear + 30mm. So if I can say in standard form the heights on my Pajero should be ± 83cm and 86cm.

Cloyd.

Thanks Cloyd, interesting measuring and comparing, I forgot to mention I have got a full tank as well. Are you on the std size HT tyres, or also BFG AT's.

Cheers

David

It's really a stir when your truck's ride height is not sitting properly. If this problem isn't fixed what can be the damage it can do to the pajero?

Not sure if I should start a seperate thread, but here are my stock Gen4 meaurements (I would expect it to be very similar since its basically the same suspension).

First measurement is from mid of hub to wheelarch, second is from ground to wheelarch:

Front right: 490mm 850mm
Front left: 495mm 855mm
Rear right: 515mm  870mm
Rear left: 520mm 880mm

This was on a full tank.

Ok, so an update on the measurements post spacers from Uys (I took the smaller sized ones).

Before (axle to wheel arch, ground to wheel arch):
Front right: 490mm 850mm
Front left: 495mm 855mm
Rear right: 515mm 870mm
Rear left: 520mm 880mm

Got quite a nice lift...

After:
Front right: 550mm 903mm
Front left: 560mm 916mm
Rear right: 565mm 925mm
Rear left: 565mm 925mm

For the after measurements, the car is on a slight downwards, and to the right slope.

Summary is Front: +-50mm lift
Rear: +-50mm lift

Also, clearance of rear diff: 325mm
Front cross member: 285mm

Karl,

Do I read your post correct? I understand that the diff and x-member did NOT lift after the spacers were fitted - Not possible, so I must be reading your post up-side-down :D

Do you have the diff and x-member reading before and after?

Uys used your Pajero's measurement of the position of the x-member to build me an under-body protection plate - guess what, the diesel's x-member is further back than the V6's. Must be because the V6 is a shorter motor then the diesel.

No... its just me who cant edit a post with my phone

Just wrote the same bit twice.

Unfortunate about the plate... I understand why Uys gets so frustrated with the Mitsu's - seems like they vary a lot of things for the different engine types.
