Hi Guys,

New to the forum and new to 4x4. I just got hold of a Gen2 pajero LWB

It seems to be having problems disengaging 4x4 from 4H to 2H.
the front light continuously blinks.

I have taken off the rubber boot to lube up the actuator.
It seems that the actuator shaft does not move when i am engaging from 2h -> 4h -> 2h .

If it is supposed to move, what things do i need to troubleshoot to find out what is causing the problem?

I tried downloading the workshop manual , but it keeps asking me to loggin and when i try to login it keeps prompting that i have entered the wrong user and password.

if the shaft doesn't move then it's either stuck or the vacuum system doesn't work.

try to see if you get vacuum at the two nipples on the actuator diaphragm. (labeled vacuum pipe in the image)

I'm not sure that picture is correct as the sensor should sit on the opposite side just below the sump


In order to get the shaft to move jack up the front of the pajero have an assistant rock the left side front wheel forward and back while they do this pull off the two vacume hoses and swop them to opposite sides, you should now see the shaft move switch the hoses back to there original position and you should see the shaft move back again.

If i remember correct the hose furthest from the diff will have vacume when in 2H the hose closesst will have vacume when in 4H

To confirm that you have disingaged 4H rotate the left front wheel the right side should not move at all, if the right side moves in the opposite direction then it is still engaged

There is also two selonoids on the RHS wheel arch check and clean the contacts
