Hi all
I find the "seat belt reminder" chime extreamly annoying. How do i disable this feature on a 2012 Pajero? I do not mind the seat belt reminder dashboard light.
Thanks
Marius
My first advice is to wear your seatbelt. It's safer and the law.
My second advice is to click in the seatbelt and then get in the car.

I'll keep my eye on this thread - with very keen interest, but I think 4e is spot on.
I really hate that bloody thing, but I'll tell you what: I'm a more safety belt responsible driver since getting this car.

Trust me. You get used to the seatbelt.
If SWAMBO or I, don't wear our seatbelt we feel all uncomfortable now.

if you really don't want to wear it then why not just plug the belt clip in and run the belt behind your seat....that way the sensors pick up that the seatbelt is clipped in but then you are not harnessed...
i always wear my seatbelt...even on the gravel roads...too many "free range" animals (
and drivers with free range minds) here in our neck of the woods...

On the BK (Gen4)Pajero there apparently is a plug underneath the seat that you can unplug and which will disable the chime. I was just always worried that it also disables the airbag
. So kept it as is.

CATS,
Yup, I'm pretty sure the seat belt and airbag work as a team. Messing with one will render the other dangerous.
From what I can gather will an airbag just about take your head off if it deploys and you are not restrained by the seat belt.
BUT, 30km/h in the Kruger or 15km/h in the Richtersveld doesn't really feel like seat belt country to me.

OK, first mod done on the Gen 4. Seatbelt chime disabled. That is just not going to work for me in certain cases!
For the guys worried about the airbag - The seat belt pick-up switch only has two pins which I measured to be open-circuit when the buckle is inserted and closed-circuit when the buckle is removed. Nothing else.
By pulling the WHITE plug under the diver's seat you are merely simulating an inserted buckle all the way.
Anyway......happy chappy!
And don't worry, I don't drive without a seat belt!
