DIY Front & Rear bumper Project
Hi Friends
I enjoy this site a lot and helped me solved problems with my flashing 4X4 lights by only reading through this site.
I drive a 2001 LWB 3500GLS Green Pajero by the name of Shrek.
I want to build a front and rear steel bumper. Front to siut a winch and the rear to carry two spare wheels. Can anybody give some tips and pictures of diy projects and info on the front airbag sensors and possible hidden problems that might help before I start desighning.
Kind Regards
Shrek

Re: DIY Front & Rear bumper Project
Hi Wynand

As it happens, I am currently building mine. A copy of what 4x4outthere did, got the steel and plans from Harras. It is a tricky buisness as it does not fit that easy, but I have learned a lot and will have it finished this weekend. You are welcome to come have a look while it is still being build and made to fit. I will post some pics this weekend of the buiild as it progressed. It is a good time now to see what I had to do to cater for all my requirements, before it is finally painted and fitted.

Send me a PM with your email address and I will send you some pics in the meantime.

Re: DIY Front & Rear bumper Project
Hi Dodger

I am waiting for the CAD drawings from a friend and will then post the link to it. However, the plans I worked off can be improved as I had to make some serious changes to make it work, but all in all I am very happy with how the bumper came out.
Some final pics below after painting.
Cheers

Johann

Jotto,

That Bumper is looking very NICE!! What spots are you planning on installing in the bumper and mounting, etc?

Re: DIY Front & Rear bumper Project
Hi I also want to replace my rear bumper - there was previous promises of CAD drawings but nothing. Anything happening now? Or somebody prepared to build one for me for a REASONABLE price?

Hi Guys,

All of yu who are planning to replace your rear bumpers: I have a 2004 GLS and would like to buy a spotless rear bumper. Mine has seen service in Southern Africa and will not pass a Concourse de' Elegance competition. If yours is a 2004 and it may pass a concourse competition, I am interested in taking yours of your hands.
