I finally got a question to post ,as I feel bad already to just be lurking

. A friend got himself a Gen 2 and it has a bad smell coming from the air conditioner. I remember reading something about aircon filters but cant remember where I saw this .So the question is ,has the gen 2 got a aircon filter and how to get to it if so.

Yes it has one and it is located under the dash on the passenger side of the vehicle. The cause of the smell is probably the drain pipe that has perished or become blocked and then one gets a sort of a moldy wet dog smell if the aircon has been running.

HB that sounds like he could have had a drainpipe blocked, is there a simple guide somewhere on the net one can download as how to remove and replace this filter or can you give a short explanation of how to.
Regards
Clem

Hi Clem
Here are two pdfs that give some perspective of what to expect. Note that the manual is for a left hand drive unit so see it in mirror view.
good luck

Thanks H B.Seems like a professional`s job to remove the unit ,I don`t think we will try that but rather resort to just trying to get rid of the smell with air fresheners or disinfectant.

Mine alos have smelly cold air but it smels like dust or mud. Is the filter inside the evaporator box? The pdf's shows how to get to the evaporator but doesn't show the filter.
