Hi Rob

Read somewhere that you have to disconnect the battery for about 15 minutes, then you can work on the steering wheel without having to worry about the airbag going off.

I have taken my airbag from the steering wheel on my plakar now several times without any issues, and without disconnecting the battery. But rather play it safe.

The airbag needs a "trigger" to set if off, so that either requires power or an earth condition, so don't cause any of the two.

Hi Rob

Depending on where you areand if your vehicle has an OBDII connection, I have a full diagnostic unit and software that can tell us what is wrong. There could be several factors to the light being on, from bad wiring to the slip ring on the steering wheel having a wire broken, if that is what is on your car.

I am in Centurion. PM me your details and I will get in touch.
