BFG A/T chipping :(

Not happy.

Bought them about 15'000km ago.

Unacceptable from a "top" premium, expensive brand!

New shocks were fitted a few weeks before I fitted the tyres.

Pressures have always been between 1.8 and 2.4 bar - mostly they are at 2.0 bar.

no contact details for BFG on their website so I have mailed the TWT outlet I bought it from to forward my complaint and take it further for me.

Let's see what response I get.

They look worst for wear if only after 15,000km :|

I will take some pic for you over the weekend from the set of Wranglers i have on now at 30,000km. it shows signs of wear but no chipping (that i know off) like yours

Yeah not great. Had this happen with a guy I know in CT as well and that is what put me off these.

My tyre of choice is now the Cooper STs. On my Colt I drove just over 50 000km on them (through Mabua, Kagalgadi, Bots Delta, SE Zambia - on 2 long trips and many trips into the kai for work) and they never let me down. I didn't have a single puncture and they only wore down to around 50%

I know some guys don't like them and say they also chip etc but for their resistance ot puncture and wear and the grip you get in mud/rock/sand as well as on road they are the winners for me.

They are a bit noisy on the road but hey, we drive big 4x4s, the noisier the better! he he

ps. and the noise helps get pedestrians out of the road ahead of you!

Hope you come right with your tyres Marius!

TWT just phoned and inspired confidence that this will be sorted.

I can't go into details but will report on what's happening.

Exactly the reason I will not buy BFG AT again. Mine chipped badly, and there are dozens of reports with the same thing. And there's no guarantee the new set will behave any differently.
