engine oil light working overtime - sensor fault?

After my recent rewire of a wiring harnass after it got eaten by the propshaft, read story here
https://www.pajeroclub.co.za/forum/view ... =27&t=3304 ,
I constantly have my oil LEVEL, not Pressure, light come on intermittently. IT almost functions as normal as it will come on say when idling in the morning or when pushed hard at speed, but there definitely is sufficient oil in there. If you rev it a bit the light goes out. Overfilling helps a little, but it still does not disappear completely. I am pretty sure the problem is linked to the harnass issue as it was 100% before and started immediately after I had it rewired. As far as I know we got all the burned wires sorted with new ones so I do not think this is wire touching somewhere. I am thinking that the sensor got burned and now is acting up, but can this be? Where is this sensor? Part number? If not too expensive I plan to replace as next step in the elimination process.
Any ideas and comments?

one image shows left, the other right. As far as I remember it's on the oil pan on the right side of the vehicle.

let me know if you can't find it and I'll try and take a pic.

Thanks a lot.
Will crawl under there over the weekend and see. Wonder what the lead time will be on parts? Let me test the new "Imperial are us" train.

Delo 400, but as I say I don't think it is the actual oil level that is the culprit.
Thanks for the idea in any case.

I don't know about the design of the pajero sensor but my passat had a low oil lebvel sensor and that work on a static resistance type sensor so oil type would have played a role there. Maybe its similar on the pajero.

OK
So it was on the right hand side of the vehicle in my car. Plugged it out and sprayed some Q20 in the hope that it will help, but alas, it seems to be the same. Will now unplug it and leave it out and see how that goes. If it shows no problems at some intervals I will know that it is wire related and not sensor related. If it continually shows light it should mean sensor problem. Right?

OK feedback time.
So I bought a new sensor from Mitsubishi. Mitsu Midrand was my first port of call but they had none in stock but directed me to Mitsu Sandton which showed 2 on their stocklist. So I must say that I had no hassles getting a part which is probably not used that often. Thumbs up to Imperial which had some bad reports of late with stock shortages.
The price was a bit steep at just over R800 for basically a float on a piece of metal with a electronic link, but compared to a similar plumbing parts I guess its OK
I drained all the oil and removed the sensor by removing the cover plate, two bolts, and then the sensor, 4 bolts. Strugled a bit to get it out of the hole and when I eventually got it the reason was clear. The float part was broken and turned sideways. I assume that is why it got stuck sometimes and gave an incorrect signal. Revving the engine probably stirred up the oil enough to get it going again.
Anyway, easy job done and sorted and I quickly did my 5000km oil change while at it.
