Rear wheels angled

Hi all,

My apologies if this has been discussed already but I can't find it on the forum.

The rear wheels on my 2003 3.2Did SWB Pajero is standing at a definite angle compared to the front wheels. I've seen quite a few other Pajero's that looks exactly the same. Is this the norm and if so what is the reason for this?

My tyres are wearing evenly and the wheel alignment is fine.

Thanks.
Niel

the suspension design on the pajero makes the bottom of the tyres angle inwards when the tyres move down.

Make sure the alignment is fine. This angle at rest can be adjusted.

Thanks Marius,

My wheels are angled outwards while the car is on solid ground though, with or without a load.
Can and should this be adjusted then? As mentioned the wheel alignment seems to be fine.

Neilsch,

When the Pajero rear suspension is correctly adjusted and it is standing on level ground, the rear wheels should be vertical or within a few minutes from vertical. Take note that when the car is jacked up at the rear - one wheel or both - and lowered to the ground the wheel(s) will not be vertical. In this case, move the car forwards or backwards by a few metres and check again.

The only way to be sure that the adjustment is correct, is to join the "technician" down in the pit and then to ensure that he adjusts it correctly. The fact that your tyres are wearing evenly can be a combination of errors of both the camber and the toe-in resulting in even wear.

Cloyd.
