hi guys
I have a friend who just bought his first Pajero Gen 3 Lwb DiD Auto
the brake pedal is extremely high and the master cylinder seems too close to the body.
Any pics or suggestions of culprit items?
thanks

Cas,
I checked my Haynes manual, but unfortunately no diagram of the booster set-up.
Find out from your friend if his gear lever is difficult to move out of PARK? I had that syndrome after a panel beating job on my 2003 LWB DiD. Eventually the Mitsu tech (car was still under guarantee) realised they had a "spacer" in the wrong place.

Hi Roelf
He had another pajero there, and the brake master cylinder was slightly away from the body.
On his,the cylinder is against the firewall,so he's thinking of putting spacers in.
He says the mounting bolts are tight, but looks like there's excessive play on the cylinder, almost like it's coming thru the firewall.
The lever is also difficult to move out of park

The "Park issue" is a symptom of the high pedal position, There is a cable link between the pedal and the gear lever. When you apply the brake, a cable releases the catch on the gear lever which allows one to move the lever out of Park.
Maybe if I elaborate on what happened in my case, then you guys might figure something on your side.
We had a quite a big shunt on the N4 when a poor bloke in a Polo crossed the highway. The right front inside wheel arch had to be panelbeated - the assossor blankly refused to have it replaced. The panel beater had to partially strip the brake assembly in the engin compartment to work on that panel. A few days after getting the car back the brake alarm went off and the system lost all boost. I drove the car to the dealer (50km away) with tissue paper in my ears

. The "booster" had failed and was replaced under the maint plan. After this replacement job, my car had the high pedal syndrome. They battled so much to find the fault that I ended up with a brand new (62km on the clock) 200 Compressor Merc for almost a week. In the end, a spacer had been placed in the wrong position.
I hope this will shed some light on your problem.
