Gen4 wing mirror indicator light damaged

Oh the joys of motoring in SA.
A minor, very uncommon, driving error by a popular small public transport vehicle operator led to the left wing mirror on my Pajero taking a knock. The knock resulted in the indicator lens breaking. There is also a minor scratch in the mirror.
Good news is there is a part available in SA. The other good news is I have SMART insurance for small damage. This was promoted to me when I bought the car, because it allows me to keep my expensive “investment” in perfect condition.
Bad news is SMART doesn’t cover “broken lights” and the indicator unit in the mirror comes at a princely R1400.
Just like I refused to give up my lane, do I refuse to give SMART another cent – policy is cancelled.
Attached is an exploded view of the mirror. The light in question is part No. 70101L.
I please need advice on how to go about replacing this light. I see no evidence of a gap into which I could possibly insert something to prize the back cover (70023L) off.
I will also happily accept anger management counseling if anybody has a contact for me.
There are however two star performers in this tale. My wife, for checking my Pajero file in our study at home to find the SMART policy, without offering me any advice on how to drive. The second star is the friendly, helpful gentleman in the Pajero parts department.
