Power window moving slowly

Hi all, I'm having an issue with my front drivers side power window. The motor sometimes sounds as if it is struggling, and it takes noticeably longer to close than the passenger side. I was wondering if anyone has had similar issues and what the appropriate action would be.

My guess is that the mechanism needs greasing, as the problem varies with time. Some days it works beautifully, others it takes ages to close!

try the easy solution first.

Silicone spray on the seals where it runs in the window frame.

Good idea, thanks. I did consider this but thought it would leave my window covered with silicone spray :? I think I'll strip the door panel and spray it from the underside to avoid making a mess.

no need to strip the window. Just spray in the rubber/suede V-part where the window mates to the window frame.

Hi parabola,

First try the silicone spray without stripping, as suggested.

If that does not help it could be that some strands on the cables that pull the window up/down have broken / the cables are not rewinding correctly on the winder drum. You should be able to see that if you strip the door panel. If the cables are damaged then you can get new wires made by a clutch & brake cable manufacturing place or else buy a complete new mechanism for a few gazillion from Mitsu.
