What would be the best battery to use for starter battery? the normal whereby one can still fill up with water or the sealed ones?
You can never go too big. The 3.2 needs some oomph to turn over so yes, rather bigger and make it work less hard.Gemaskerde Tuinvurk wrote:Mine came fitted with a 668. Is that overkill? Thinking I'll replace with the same...
Reasoning is that a larger capacity battery should cycle less deeply, meaning it will last longer...?
Invest in an intelligent charger.
Hook it up whenever the car is going to be standing for a few days.
And once a year put it on for a few days with the battery removed from the car (note the radio code) - give the battery a vigorous shake once a day while it's on charge outside the car to get the fluids mixing properly. (I didn't believe it at first but after doing that the green indicator came back on my touareg battery.

I've a 652C.....Where does that fit in with the above seeing that I have the 2006 DI-D SWB? What does the "C" mean?
I've also had some cold start issues the past couple of weeks and had the battery flat 2 or 3 times. I also had my battery checked and they said it was fine. Do I just need to give it a good charging?

Every time a starter battery runs "flat" it degrades battery life. In fact if a starter battery really runs completely flat it will no longer take any charge.NielvV wrote: I've also had some cold start issues the past couple of weeks and had the battery flat 2 or 3 times. That is why 4ePikanini suggests keeping the battery on an intelligent charger when the car is standing.
I know you said that you had your battery checked and it was OK, but you also say it has run flat a few times.
I suggest that if you have or can find a friendly battery dealer ask that he puts your battery on one of their chargers for a reconditioning charge cycle over a 24 period and then report the battery state to you. Especially as colder weather is coming.
