Gen 2.5 X-Rox type bumper
My front end was sagging and looking as sad as PW Botha after his rubicon speech  So, Johan Otto stepped in again to help and we built a front bumper.

Stripped the front off, then used a 8mm baseplate, cut in half with a plasma cutter for the 'base' of the bumper. Small sections of angle iron was used to 'rest' them on the chassis. This was bolted on with the factory bolts.

Johan had a winch type front end from a previous project, so donated that. This was mounted to the base with 50mm wide 6mm flatbar welded at 90'

Left a gap for air and mounted a piece of 40mm x 40mm angle iron. This also provides extra stiffness for the spotlights later. Conti Partner bent and sold me the 4 pipe sections for R100 each.

These are welded to another 50mm flatbar, which bolts to the 8mm baseplate. If I want a different design, I can just bolt these off, and put on different sides.

Here is how it starts to come together with the Alu stepping plate on the top.

So once we were done I stripped it all down again, painted it with Hammerite, and fitted it all. I also used some shiny bolts and locknuts.

I didn't like how the spotlights were open, so I went down to Conti Partner again, and they bent the tube for me for R250, and Johan cut it correctly and welded it to 2 x 100mm x 100mm base plates. These bolt on with 4 bolts. The beauty is if I need a full round hoops with branch deflectors, I can have it welded up and it will take maybe 20mins to fit.

All done!

In action at 3 Provinces. No, the wheels did not rub on the tubing at all
Re: Gen 2.5 X-Rox type bumper
I wonder how this type of bumper will look like on the Gen3?
